SOP: Monitor Cable Replacement Procedure For Single Bank Cooler with Two Monitors

Objective:

To replace a monitor cable systematically and efficiently to ensure proper functionality.

Key Steps:

  1. Assess the Situation:

    • Remove the cooler if it is in the way of access to the Portrait monitor on the side of the unit.

    • Inspect all cable connections including power and HDMI cables for each monitor and media player

  1. Prepare Replacement Cable:

    • Unravel the replacement cable and label it for easy identification.

  1. Disconnect Old Cable:

    • Identify the cable to be replaced on the left side of the monitor.

    • Pull out the old cable, noting the narrow and wide end for correct orientation of the mini-HDMI or HDMI end of the cable.

  1. Replace with New Cable:

    • Unpackage or unravel the new cable from the monitor.

    • Thread the new cable down through the hole to the left side of the monitor.

    • Ensure the wide end of the HDMI cable is facing towards you and the narrow end is facing away towards the back of the monitor and is inserted correctly.

  1. Secure Connections:

    • Check for proper syncing of the monitor with the new cable securely in place.

    • When possible, tape the cables against the wall, ensuring no tension is pulling away from the plug.

  1. Final Checks:

    • Verify there are no pinches or breaks in the cables.

    • Push any excess cable towards the monitor to avoid binding or harsh 180 sharp turns in the cable direction (could cause degradation of signal).

  1. Reassemble and Test:

    • Slide the cooler back in and check the monitor's functionality.

    • Replace the service hatch and restock the cooler according to the planogram.

  1. Verification:

    • Take a picture of the working monitor and send it for confirmation.

Cautionary Notes:

    • Ensure correct orientation of the cable ends during replacement.

    • Avoid pulling or bending the cables excessively to prevent damage.

    • Double-check connections and cable routing to prevent future issues.

Tips for Efficiency:

    • Label cables for easy identification on what plugs into what.

    • Keep excess cable slack towards the monitor for flexibility.

    • Test the monitor thoroughly before completing the task.

    • Take pictures for documentation and verification purposes.
